Nicola Stott McCourt was born in Oxford and spent her childhood in Sevenoaks, Kent. She trained as an NNEB nanny and travelled worldwide looking after children. Once back in London she worked within Saudi Aramco's fleet management and attended night school gaining a Postgraduate in Personnel and Development. Finding London working life too monotonous she qualified in TEFL and then moved to Paris and ultimately Aix-en-Provence where she lived for three years lecturing in phonetics at the University of Provence.
Nicola has now settled in Sussex, near Lewes, where she lives extremely happily with her husband and three sons. Her first children's picture book, 'Who Ever Heard of a Tiger in a Pink Hat', was published by Meadowside in 2007.
