Alec Sillifant was born in 1965 in Weston-Super-Mare, Somerset but has lived in what he considers his home city, Liverpool, since the 1970s.

He has worked in a number of different jobs, but throughout his life has always been writing. Since the turn of the century, he has settled into a routine of earning his living through the written word; writing short stories, poetry, comedy sketches and in particular greetings cards.

He describes his feelings about writing as, 'A slightly masochistic way to have fun, but, the only time I'm allowed to tell long, elaborate lies about stuff.'

He writes at home in Liverpool where he lives with his wife and four sons who he describes as his anchors to keep him in line in the real world.
