FAQ's
I have written and illustrated a story, will you accept it?
Yes, we will accept submissions of stories both with and without illustrations.
I have written a book which needs illustrations, but I am not an illustrator, will you accept it?
Yes, this is the most common way we receive picture book submissions. Do not feel that you need to couple your text with illustrations in order for us to consider it.
Who should I address my submission to?
Please address your stories to the Submissions Editor or your illustrations to Art Submissions. If you are unsure which category your work falls into, please address it to the Submissions Editor.
How long can I expect to wait before receiving a reply?
Unfortunately, due to the volume of work we receive, we are not able to reply to unsuccessful submissions. If you include an SAE we will return any manuscripts/samples to you as soon as we possibly can. Please be patient whilst waiting for a reply as we receive a very high volume of submissions.
Do I need an agent?
No. We accept submissions from both agented and unagented writers and illustrators.
General advice for writers
Before you send anything to a publisher, make sure you find the right publisher for your work. It's worth spending almost as much time on this as writing your story. Take time to research publishers' websites and look at their books in shops for a better of idea of what they publish. Doing this should save you a lot of time in the long run!
